In textile industry, steam boiler is an essential device and it can supply steam to drying, power generation, etc. However, textile industry is suffering from energy crisis specially gas, low pressure and high demand among residence in winter causes complete breakdown. So, it’s high requirement to shift on alternate energy resources e.g. Coal. Country is very rich with its coal reserves and it can serve for quite long. In this post we will discuss possible energy alternates for textile industry, Economical aspect (Costing), Merits and demerits involved. Major focus is on costing to evaluate efficiency of different energy resources.
Industry utilizes different kind of boilers with varying pressure and of different capacities as per unit requirement.
Natural Gas:
Natural gas is superb neat & clean, Eco Friendly and continuous source of energy. It has Gross Caloric Value of 43000KJ/m3, Specific Gravity of 0.7 and approx. cost of per metric cube of gas is 12 Rs.
So, after placing these values into formula we will obtain answer of 229 m3/Hr of gas required for above case and when this quantity is multiplied with per metric cube price of gas, final answer would be like 2600 Rs/Hr for producing 2Tons steam at 5 bar.
Coal:
Coal has average Gross Caloric Value of 20000KJ/Kg and approx. cost of per Kg of coal is 8.5Rs.
So, after placing these values into formula we will obtain answer of 325Kg/Hr of Coal required for above case and when this quantity is multiplied with per Kilogram cost of Coal, final answer would be like 2724Rs/Hr for producing 2Tons steam at 5 Bar.
Furnace oil:
Furnace oil has Gross Caloric Value of 41868KJ/Liter and has Specific gravity of approx. 0.96. cost of Furance oil per Liter is approx. 82 Rs.
So, after placing these values into formula we will obtain answer of 161Liters/Hr of furnace oil required for above case and when this quantity is multiplied with per Literprice of Furnace oil, final answer would be like 13234Rs/Hr for producing 2 Tons steam at 5 Bar.
Conclusion
We have come to conclusion that natural gas is superb fuel for textile industry which has many advantages like being economical, neat and clean, Eco friendly and automatic controllable fuel.
We have also concluded that coal is costing approximately same as natural gas although with coal one has to dealt with a lot of issues like proper store keeping, plenty of space, Weekly cleanliness of Boiler, Modification of boiler for proper combustion of coal, Special fan and air injection to boost up combustion process, Human capital in shape of labour is needed to unload goods from transporting trucks and then manually pump to ignition chamber of boiler.
